Lily Allen: Worked on MySpace for Publicity
If you surf on MySpace a lot, then you would have noticed Lily Allen when she was distributing her songs on the web site. In fact, that’s how she got noticed. She started attracting MySpace users to her community, and she had such a large following that recording executives had to adjust her release dates for her albums.
Born rich and privileged and elbowing with London’s rich and famous, Lily Rose is a pop singer who was born on May 2, 1985 in Hammersmith London. She is the daughter of Keith Allen, an actor and comedian and Alison Owen, a film producer. “Smile,” her single which was a big hit, launched her singing career. Lily comes from a large brood of sisters and brothers, most of them half-siblings actually. She went to Bedales, reputedly one of the most expensive schools in England.
Like most young Brits, Lily Allen vacationed in Ibiza, Spain and while there she met George Lamb of Audio Bullys who introduced her to the producers of Future Cut. She also worked briefly for Warner Music and in 2005 was signed to Regal Records (a subsidiary of EMI). Instead of following her superiors’ advice to “hit factories”, she uploaded her tracks on MySpace. Links to her songs were sent to schools and universities and she was receiving positive comments. Owing to rumors, LDN was released with a limited edition. LDN was considered her first single, which was followed by the album, “Knock ‘Em Out”. She performed live in the Notting Hill Arts Club once a week for four weeks.
“Alright” was her initial album and was released in July this year. There was a full CD release first in the UK then in the rest of Europe. It has 11 songs. As for filmography, Lily Allen was featured in “Thief: Deadly Shadows Townspeople # 1 (a video game) in 2004. That same year she was also featured in another video game (only her voice) entitled “Freedom Force versus the Third Reich Law.” In 1998, she was featured in “Elizabeth, Lady in Waiting.”
Lily Allen is well known for her Mockney accent and was a classmate of Luke Pritchard in The Kooks. She claims to be a fan of Chris Moyles. One incident almost got her in trouble. When she was interviewed by NME and was asked what she would do if her single made it to # 1 in the UK, she replied, “gak” (which means cocaine). She apologised later for making such a remark
